The Early Years at Throston are split into two phases, Nursery and Reception.
From September 2014 Ofsted inspectors will report upon the effectiveness of the early years provision, judging the quality and standards in the early years.
Nursery and Reception
Nursery is for children aged 3 to 4. At Throston we are supporting Flexible Nursery Entitlement (FNE) which means that children attend morning or afternoon sessions or a combination of both. Children within Nursery are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education and there is some flexibility over how to take the entitlement. If you would like to discuss flexible Nursery options, please make an appointment to speak to Mrs Bloomfield. The Nursery class admits 39 children into each
session. A child is admitted to Nursery the term after their third birthday, depending on places available. Admissions are in line with the school Nursery admissions policy. This is available on request.
This is the first year of full time education, for children aged 4 to 5. The children can access the whole of the Early Years Stage Village and are familiar with all of the staff, so the transition from Nursery to Reception should be very smooth for your child.
