On Thursday 18th May 2023, our school will celebrate it's 50th birthday, below are listed details of our birthday events planned so far. It will be a double celebration as our neighbours and friends Springwell School are also celebrating their 50th birthday.

Thursday 18th May 2023

1) Children will receive a new special edition Throstie badge. This is in place of making badges.

2) Liz Million, the illustrator will visit us all day (http://www.lizmillion.com/). 

9.15am to 9.45am: Whole School Assembly
9.45am to 10.15am: Year 3
10.30am to 11.00am: Early Years

11.00am to 11.30am: Year 1

11.30am to 12.00pm: Year 2
1.00pm to 1.45pm: Year 5
1.45pm to 2.30pm: Year 4

2.30pm to 3.15pm: Year 6
 

3) We will have a photographer at school to capture each class on this special day. If your child is in Nursery, and normally does not attend on a Thursday, please bring them between 10.30am and 11.30am for their special birthday photograph.

4) On the morning thirty (15 from LKS2 and 15 from UKS2) of our Key Stage 2 children will go* to the Springwell Classes to work on fun birthday projects, making cakes etc... 5 children will be in each class: Caimans (10.45am to 11.45am), Toucans (10.45am to 11.45am), Pangolins (10.45am to 11.45am), Zebras (10.45am to 11.45am), Lions (10.45am to 11.45am) and Lion Cubs (10.30am to 11.30am).

5) On the morning of our birthday we will also have Springwell children visiting us: Sharks and Dragons (Early Years, 9.30am to 10.30am), Pandas, Elephants (Year 1, 9.30am to 10.30am), Anacondas and Jaguars (Year 2, 9.30am to 10.30am).

6) On the afternoon each class will have a party, with food supplied by the school.

Friday 19th May 2023 - This day will be a non-uniform day, children can wear clothes from the previous 5 decades if they wish!

1) There will be a special assembly for the two schools at Throston (1.30pm to 1.50pm), during this we will mark the occasion with party poppers, balloons, finger lights, bubbles, confetti, party horns etc. We will sing Happy Birthday and songs from the 70's - 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Waterloo'. Each school will cut a large birthday cake.

2) There will be a party on the field (2.00pm to 2.45pm) with Outdoor Music.

Saturday 20th May 2023
Both schools will be open for ex-pupils and staff (10.00am to 12.00pm). There will be FREE refreshments.
