Throston Primary School

A Flying Start to Success

Safe Cycling

Whilst the school wishes to encourage pupils to cycle to school, the decision as to whether your child is

competent to negotiate hazards on the route from home to school and back must be yours and yours alone. We do not accept liability for any consequences of that decision. Parents are advised to take out appropriate insurance cover, as the school’s insurance does not cover loss or damage to bicycles. It is also advised that pupils use appropriate reflective clothing and bike lights when visibility is poor, in addition to wearing a cycle helmet.

Although cycling is a great way to keep fit and help the environment the school still needs to ensure those using bicycles are safe.

Please note the school also has limited storage for scooters. A scooter pod is located outside the Year 2

classrooms.

Children are not allowed to ride bikes or scooters in the school playground.
