Year 4's History topics are, the Vikings and Ancient Greece.

For these topics children will label timelines using appropriate vocabulary such as: decades, centuries, dates, millennium, BCE, AD, prehistory, modern history, time period, era, change, chronology, before, during.

They will also divide recent history into centuries – present- 21st century; and the past using 19th and 20th centuries.

We will look at change and development and describe how some of the past events/people affect life today. Children will show knowledge and understanding of similarities, differences and changes occurring of the Vikings and and Ancient Greece. They will do this by, describing the characteristic features of the past and why things, including houses and settlements, buildings and their uses, culture and leisure activities, clothes, way of life and actions of people, ideas, beliefs, attitudes and experiences of men, women and children, difference between rich and poor, affect life today.
