Throston Primary School

A Flying Start to Success

Physical Development

At Throston, we plan activities to help children to develop their control and co-ordination in large and small movements such as jumping, climbing, handling construction tools and pencils.

In Nursery there are lots of opportunities to cut with scissors and develop fine motor skills through activities such as sorting small objects, using tweezers and pencils.

Both the Forest School and garden also give plenty of opportunities for developing physical skills, such as running, climbing, crawling, jumping and balancing. The children are encouraged to put their coats, wellies and shoes on and off.

They also have lessons in yoga and dance during their time in Nursery.

They learn about healthy eating and brushing their teeth.
