Whole school cross curricular links

Throston have an excellent link with High Tunstall College of Science within PE.

Part of our sports premium money provides us the use of their specialised PE teachers to come in weekly and deliver PE lessons to help up-skill our staff and offer specialist teaching for our children. We also use their swimming pool and their swimming coach delivers lessons for Years 3 - Year 6.

High Tunstall delivers JAPP (junior advanced performance programme.) The Junior Advanced Performance Programme selects children who attend sports clubs outside of school and show good attitude and sporting ability.  The Programme aims to give primary school students the skills to excel in their chosen sports, to enable them to access a wide range of sporting activities and to give them the opportunity to work with other students who excel in PE, including the High Tunstall students who are currently on the Advanced Performance Programme.

Throston also have a good link with Springwell School and work together to arrange SEND game events for our children to take part in and compete against other schools. These events are always enjoyed by our pupils and provide a good community spirit.
